This project is design support for a new neuropsychiatric hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland, a region of Somalia that struggles with challenges presented by extreme poverty coupled with a lack of infrastructure and severe climate challenges.

Information Technology Center

Engineers Without Borders and AWBS volunteer and former President of the Board of Directors, Carter Woollen, are designing a permanent technology center to support community development and youth empowerment events in Coope, Uganda. 
Welcoming Center for Infants in Distress
Dano, Burkina Faso
The welcoming center is a facility that will support infants and children in distress. The clinic for 20+ infants helps them to recover from pervasive disease, malnutrition, and transition back to families or foster care.
Nicopolis Tanzania Albinism Support Center
Chunya District, Tanzania
 
This is a multi-phase project to create a center for people with albinism that is self-sustaining, safe, and therapeutic.
Rabuor Village Vocational Training Center
Rabuor Village, Kenya
 
This project involved designing a two-building complex to create a community resource center for a Kenyan community impacted by HIV/AIDS. Programming in the center will help teach a range of skills including using computers to culinary arts.
Jua Lekundu
Bababti, Tanzania
 
To support a community with many orphans resulting from HIV/AIDS, AWB designed a sustainable orphanage and community center. The design includes four classroom, staff housing, a health clinic, an outdoor kitchen, and an indoor/outdoor dining facility to serve 100 children.
Child Academy
Tembisa Township, South Africa
 
AWB's help was requested to develop a design concept to build a security wall to surround the school to keep students safe from random violence. The school also sought landscape support to create opportunities for food cultivation.
Mama Maria Clinic
Muhuru Bay, Kenya
 
AWB was tasked with designing a medical clinic with potential for future growth and the possibility of also hosting a community center. The project was designed to be entirely self-sustaining.
Kristy's Cape Academy
Kithii, Kenya
 
This project is to create a modular classroom design for a school serving 300+ students. AWB-Seattle has been requested to create a site master plan with flexible classroom design that can be replicated and expanded as construction funds become available.
