In partnership with Engineers Without Borders, this project is design support for a new health clinic for the Wai Community in Sierra Leone.
Kalapuwa Sri Boys Orphanage
Columbo, Sri Lanka

Kalapuwa Sri Project involves the design and documentation of a new orphanage facility located near the city of Colombo in Sri Lanka. The new facility will more than double the capacity of the existing Sumadra Sri Orphanage.

To support a community with many orphans resulting from HIV/AIDS, AWB designed a sustainable orphanage and community center. The design includes four classroom, staff housing, a health clinic, an outdoor kitchen, and an indoor/outdoor dining facility to serve 100 children.

AWB's help was requested to develop a design concept to build a security wall to surround the school to keep students safe from random violence. The school also sought landscape support to create opportunities for food cultivation.

This project includes a school and park design to provide vital access between the school’s central gathering area and the primary school, green space in an otherwise barren desert landscape and areas for students to relax and play. The goal is to improve human well-being and ecological health.

The welcoming center is a facility that will support infants and children in distress. The clinic for 20+ infants helps them to recover from pervasive disease, malnutrition, and transition back to families or foster care.

This project is design support for a new neuropsychiatric hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland, a region of Somalia that struggles with challenges presented by extreme poverty coupled with a lack of infrastructure and severe climate challenges.
San Miguel Escobar

AWB-Seattle is supporting this community with the design of a new school complex and vocational training center. This project will serve as a prototype for sustainable, community-built education and local enterprise facilities in Guatemala.
