ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Architects Without Borders-Seattle volunteers worked with Sawhorse Revolution to develop a design for a tiny home to be located in one of Seattle’s Nickelsville communities. This home is one of the components in Sawhorse Revolution’s larger project, the Impossible City – a project to build houses and needed infrastructure for the Nickelsville Homeless Community. Sawhorse Revolution is currently leading students from the Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative through the construction process with the help of construction management lessons from BN Builders.

The design, referred to as the “Hinge House,” incorporates a hinged roof to allow for maximum floor area, a sleeping loft, and transportability on Seattle’s streets.
